This is a superb large French porcelain hand painted and gilded Apothecary Jar and cover which dates, I would guess, from the late 18th. In a cylindrical form topped with a knopped conical cover, decorated with copious hand painted gilded images of a foliate swags, the Caduceus (two snakes wrapped around a winged staff), and what looks to be a mortar above, and gilded banding throughout.
Apothecary decor. Includes original cork stopper. Bathroom or shelf styling.
One jar has a chip on the foot and on the rim of the lid inside, which is not visible on display. In two jars, the lids fit quite snugly.
Decorative apothecary jar. Apothecary collections. Ceramic construction. Display or storage use.
