Vintage apothecary jar with lid from a doctor’s estate, glazed ceramic, transfer decorated and hand painted gold accents. The jar is 7 1/2″ high, 4 1/4″ diameter base. With the lid on, the overall height is 10″. Not marked as to country of origin or manufacturer. Yellow glazed pottery with cracklure on the jar, slightly less prominent cracklure on the lid. A couple of small glaze flakes on the rim of the lid, some wear to the gold and the transfer decoration. You may have to turn the lid to get the best fit with the jar because one or both is slightly out of round.
This piece is hand painted, marked “Made in Italy” on the base, and includes its original matching lid. It features classic Italian Pharmacy style decoration and displays beautifully. There is one small chip underneath the lid handle, not visible unless the lid is lifted.
