This is a replica of a 17th century English pill tile. This replica was a thank you gift for pharmacist’s that entered the Burroughs Wellcome Company’s Pharmacy Education Scholarship Program that helps finance the education of pharmacy students. This replica tile was issued circa 1980. The issue number is B-654. SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE ORIGINAL BOX. This replica tile features a 17th century English Apothecary’s Crest with the London Coat of Arms and the motto “Opiferque Per Orbem Dicor” – “I am called throughout the world the one who brings help”. This tile is made of glazed ceramic earthenware. It is hand decorated in Delft style with blue design. The dimensions are approximately 5-7/8 x 5-7/8 x 1/8 inches. It is stamped on the back with “Delft Holland”. The original information sheet is glued to the back of the tile. There is also a hanger attached to the back for hanging on the wall. CONDITION: This vintage item is in excellent used condition. The glaze is clean, bright and shiny. The information sheet has been glued and taped to the back of the tile. This paper sheet was cut in two. There is a tiny nick on the top edge of the tile. It is glazed over, so it was there during manufacturing.
