This item is an antique Italian majolica apothecary jar, also known as an albarello. Type: Albarello, traditionally used in apothecaries to store medicinal herbs, ointments, and potions. Design: Hand-painted in the Italian Renaissance style, often featuring colorful patterns, inscriptions, and scenic illustrations like the castle scene shown. Material: Glazed ceramic, with a characteristic waisted shape designed for easy handling.

One jar has a chip on the foot and on the rim of the lid inside, which is not visible on display. In two jars, the lids fit quite snugly.
