Incredibly Rare Drug Rep Promo Item–Bextra/Celebrex Exercise Resistance Band. I have never seen another like it. If it has been used at all, it was extremely lightly. No evidence of wear; clean. As you’re looking at it, the span between grips is about 20″ (last photo has a yardstick behind the band). Celebrex is an anti-inflammatory medication called a COX-2 inhibitor still in use today. Bextra WAS a similar anti-inflammatory medication that was taken off the market in 2005 because there was concern of a possible link to significant adverse cardiac events. Being anti-inflammatory and used for pain such as arthritis, the connection to an exercise resistance band is clear. The grips and center brace are made of semi-rigid foam and the bands are elastic, though I’m not sure of the material, i.e. whether latex rubber or synthetic. Even though this is a vintage item, the band seems to have retained its elasticity and there is no evidence of deterioration. Drug rep promotional materials have been outlawed for years (because doctors were undoubtedly bribed to prescribe a medication because someone gave them a pen or a post-it note), and you won’t ever see any new ones. Plus, since Bextra was pulled off the market in 2005, you know this item predates that. This is a truly rare and unique collectible. It would be a GREAT gift for a pharmacist, orthopedic surgeon, orthopedic PA or NP, or orthopedic surgery resident. Thanks for looking
