Pair of 19th Century amber glass apothecary jars with original labels.
Antique chemist clear bottle with flat stopper. It is clean and in excellent condition.
It is unmarked as shown in the photo.
32 cms tall and 6cms across top.
The gold label reads TR:CALUMB: which stands for Callumba Root Tincture (Jateorhiza palmata) and appears to have included an extraction from sugar beet, ethanol and water and was most likely used as a form of pain relief.
The label reads: Mason’s Original Extract Herbs, Sedgley, Staffs, England. An early 20th-century glass bottle. The bottle and label are in excellent condition, unopened and with contents intact.
• One plain apothecary or laboratory-style bottle. An attractive display lot with traditional cut crystal-style patterns and useful vanity or collector appeal. • Centre bottle missing stopper. Centre cut glass bottle is missing its stopper as photographed.
Here are three clear glass 19th century apothecary bottles, which could make super display pieces. The second clear glass bottle is much smaller and an unusual tall, thinner shape. Again, the stopper can easily be removed.
This item has a thin fluted elegant shape. It is now empty and dry. There is a blank scale on the other side of the item. It appears hand blown since there is a ground off pontil mark beneath.
