This replica tile was issued circa 1980. The issue number is B-654. SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE ORIGINAL BOX. This replica tile features a 17th century English Apothecary’s Crest with the London Coat of Arms and the motto “Opiferque Per Orbem Dicor” – “I am called throughout the world the one who brings help”. This tile is made of glazed ceramic earthenware. It is hand decorated in Delft style with blue design. The dimensions are approximately 5-7/8 x 5-7/8 x 1/8 inches. It is stamped on the back with “Delft Holland”. The original information sheet is glued to the back of the tile. There is also a hanger attached to the back for hanging on the wall. CONDITION: This vintage item is in excellent used condition. The glaze is clean, bright and shiny. The information sheet has been glued and taped to the back of the tile. This paper sheet was cut in two. There is a tiny nick on the top edge of the tile. It is glazed over, so it was there during manufacturing. The Tile is 5 7/8 “x 5 7/8” Delft Holland Handmade Tile, Pharmacy Pill Tile by Burroughs Wellcome Co., 1987 Delft Holland Tile Limited Edition, Decorative Tile This handmade tile from Delft, Holland, is part of a limited edition commissioned by Burroughs Wellcome Co 1987. The scene depicts the value of uroscopy and recognize the role of the pharmacist, as significant in the past as it is today. This kind of pill tile, used to prepare medication, were awarded to pharmacists upon completion of their training and in recognition of their service to the community. This tile has the printed description on the back, and stamped mark “Delft Holland Handmade”. The tile is in very good vintage condition with no visible damage, and it is ready to hang on a wall.
