This is a superb large French porcelain hand painted and gilded Apothecary Jar and cover which dates, I would guess, from the late 18th. In a cylindrical form topped with a knopped conical cover, decorated with copious hand painted gilded images of a foliate swags, the Caduceus (two snakes wrapped around a winged staff), and what looks to be a mortar above, and gilded banding throughout.
It has a simple apothecary label that looks clean and professional, like in a well-organized chemist’s cabinet.
A nice touch is the multi-color label near the dosage line, which draws your eye without feeling busy.
You will find that 11.7g gives a sense of substance without excess.
