This is a replica of a 17th century Dutch pill tile. This replica was a thank you gift for pharmacist’s that entered the Burroughs Wellcome Company’s Pharmacy Education Scholarship Program that helps finance the education of pharmacy students. This replica tile was issued circa September 1983. The issue number is B-775. SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE ORIGINAL BOX. This replica tile features a scene of a 17th century druggist working outdoors with a large mortar to prevent foul odors from contaminating the inside of his apothecary. This tile is made of glazed ceramic earthenware. It is hand decorated in Delft style with blue design. The dimensions are approximately 5-7/8 x 5-7/8 x 1/8 inches. It is stamped on the back with “Delft Holland Handmade”. The original information sheet is glued to the back of the tile. There is also a hanger attached to the back for hanging on the wall. CONDITION: This vintage item is in excellent used condition. The glaze is clean, bright and shiny. There is some minor wear to the attached information sheet from use and age.
